DIMM slots

This maybe noobish, but I honestly never dealt with a CPU that said it just had DIMM slots. Friend is trying to upgrade his comp and wants Ram.

he has that, and it says DDR 184 DIMMs. Will this run 184-pin SDRAM rated at the same speeds, or are they completly different.

yes,all ddr ram is 184 pin dimm example. pc 2100,2700 and 3200 etc. DDR2 is 240 pin dimm . different all together

DIMM stands for dual inline memory module. DIMM has a 64-bit bus. It is called dual because it has twice the width of the previous memory's bus. SIMM modules went out of style over 10 years ago. Everything you can buy new and about 99% of what you can buy used is DIMM.

hes running a comp with 256 MB and a Geforce MX 64 MB. He will be, even if others are not.

Just odd that it stated DIMM and not sdram, thats what confused me. Thanks.
