How do I get Seti running on my PS3 ?


I bought my husband a PS3 for Xmas and am thinking of seeing how it runs Seti.
Any suggestions please ?

seti won't run on ps3 but folding at home will i think.

I found this on the seti forums. It can be done, but you'll have to set up linux on it.

Edit: After looking in a couple more places, the SETI build for PS3 is definately buggy and unoptimized. Probably not worth the trouble of setting it up.

Thats just too bad

I find it kind of strange that Folding@home is built into the PS3 but Seti is not even worth running on it.

Seti is far from not worth it

Someone just hasn't wrote a client for it.

Well heck, with all the PS3's out there someone had better get on it hehehe

Someone should do it just so Folding@home isnt the only viable option

What I meant to say was, by the time you got it set up and working properly, you could have just built an old P4 box or something and gotten the same amount of points per day. SETI is always worth it, except when its not.

I remember reading in the project forums that the SETI folks were seeking a programmer who could write a version for all of the available power of a ps3.
