Hey guys, i'm looking for some advice. I have been doing a *lot* of UML modeling lately for school, and i'm gonna do even more next semester(s). I was using Objecteering UML modeler to make my diagrams, but after discussions with my teacher, it seems that this program representation isn't all that perfect. As it stands now, i am mainly doing Class and Sequence diagrams, but should be learning on the other kind of diagrams soon enought.

So, i am looking for recommandations on another UML modeling application....
But here comes the catch: it have to be Ubuntu compatible, for i won't be using another O/S atleast for this semester.

I have found some names on google, but i'd very much appreciate advice from someone with experience in that, if possible before the start of next semester (Jan 3rd )

Thanks!

Rational Rose will run on Linux I think. This is basically an enterprise app for software modeling. I will warn you it is not cheap though.

Another option would be Rational Application Developer, again not cheap. Make sure you go with version 7. We use 6 at work and it is full of bugs, barely usable but version 7 is pretty solid. Just so you know this tool is targeted at JAVA development but will make diagrams. This just runs on JAVA so if you have JAVA on your Linux box it will run.

$1,850.00

Wow you weren't joking about not cheap  my student budget couldn't quite handle a "professionnal" business solution as it stands now.

I will take a look at all suggestions, and more are always appreciated :)

Thanks for the input!
