that looks pretty good to me except those little empty spots although that was probably from pulling the heatsink off whatever it was on

thanks for the quick feedback.. i thought it was flat, but better to ask you gurus

i wish i would have taken a photo of the cpu... it did seem to be thicker on one corner/side. it could very well be slightly concave and the reason for my heat issues.

could slightly concave cpu ihs be the cause of idle temps of 35-41C? and load at 71-80C on my q6600?? or are those temps just too high. i don't know how much lapping the cpu would buy me

Did you try the razor + light test?

Hold the HS and place a razor blade across it, then hold it up and see how much light passes through.

Seems flat, now try your CPU

hmmm... angled, meaning level? does the glass need to be level for this test too? the right side of the glass plate is on my kitchen counter. i'm holding the left side of the glass and ducking under to get the photo. it was basically level, but i'm sure it wasn't level level

i was pretty generous with the ketchup in this test, but don't use near that much TIM on the cpu.

those specs are from the tomato sauce itself

You, like me, have been blessed with a perfectly flat factory manufactured TRUE 120
