First time post on forums, but I have been a lurker for some time now. I just put together a quick build for a friend of mine and I'm at the mercy of the forum for some advice. Price is a major factor and I already have a 160gb sata HDD for the unit.

Here is the build:
https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersio...tNumber=5312485&WishListTitle=Jill's+Computer

Once again, I already have a hard drive for the unit. I used a lot of the combo deals to save money, but if I can cut cost without much performance loss that would be fantastic.

Criticism is defiantly encouraged considering I haven't built a complete rig in like 2-3 years.

Thanks again!

i'd drop the cpu down to a e2160 and change the videocard to a x1950pro AT THE VERY LEAST.

if you want to game, you should really aim for at least a 3850.

You can always OC a cpu to get the same performance as a much more costly cpu, but it is not the same for the videocard.

+1 to that, better screencard for sure. I dont agree with an HD3850 for gaming but it sure beats the **** out of a 8500GT. Problem with 3850 is that for example in Tomshardwares charts it averages at same performance as a 7900GTX, having a GTO (virtually same as GTX) i must say thats too weak for today. I say 8800GT, thats a lot of performance for the money, if he will be using 1280x1024 resolution even the 256MB version will be ok.
