I ordered a P5W-DH

i have a E6600

And 3 gib of Module PC2-5300 (333 MHz), 1024 MBytes, Hyundai Electronics Memory Type DDR2
Memory Size 3072 MBytes
Memory Frequency 333.3 MHz (4:5)
CAS# Latency (tCL) 5.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# (tRCD) 5 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 5 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 15 clocks
Command Rate (CR) 2T

Well anyways i figure that my memory sucks i dont know anything about overclocking and just wanting to get into it as a hobbie.

with my P5B.VM i manage to get 2.53 lol@me but anyways i think if i learn more and get into it i will get more out of the P5W-DH and ofcourse i will have a cross fire setup.

My question is if i get this will they overclock very well with the new board?

mushkin Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) with EPP Profile Dual Channel Kit

Thank you in advance for your help.
And if anyone has this board and cpu and would help me tweak it to get atleast 3.2 it be nice.
thanks once againg.

i'm sure those sticks will work fine. and tbh right now most likely you are limited by your memory. with the new board and memory you should be able to oc pretty well.

one other thing to look at is do you have a solid power supply? thats another piece of the puzzle.

btw i would recommend these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820146565 if you wanna save some money. they clock very well.

I had a P5W-DH, wasnt very good for RAM OC, that goes for the 3 other 975X boards i had too, but the P5W-DH was a notch worse than the Badaxe/Badaxe2s. PC8500 RAM seems wasted to me but then again my P5W-DH was an early model (bought it in july-06, before C2D launch), could be better now. But, theres still a limitation in the 975X chipset for RAM OC. Its a good board for CPU OCing anyway, and performance is higher at same clock compared to P965 because of the 975Xs tighter northbridge timings.

First off, I second and third the recommendation to go with the less expensive, but equally good Ballistix. They will run the same clocks as the Mushkin, perhaps even better, for half the cost.

With respect to your motherboard...there are some limitations to the memory clocking with this board, but there are also some workarounds, including using SPD timings past a certain point.

There is one very long and informative thread over at XS that deals with this motherboard and I can't encourage you enough to read it, and then read it again. It probably has the most information on that motherboard that you will find in any one location.

In addition, this one has some tips on getting your memory clocks higher.

This last one is just some general tips on things that you can do to your mobo in preparation for use.

Lastly, some pencil mods, should you find yourself in need of a Vitamin "V" booster. :)

Enjoy your new rig.

I have Mushkin XP 6400 with a P5WDH,. problem with the DH. That 1066 memory may not be needed because The P5WDH top out FSB at about 425. Get PC6400, it's probably cheaper..

Thank you so much and thats alot of info.
i really apriciate it .
i love this place.
