E8400 + X38-DS4 Rev1.0 Prime95 Error? :O

Not sure if this is the right section or not, but I am new and in need of some quick help that I think someone could help me with.

I get that 'Fatal error' when trying to run Prime95 with 'Torture Test' on 'Blend'

Any help? Any more info needed? Screwed up? Bad Drivers? :O
 
more info about ather hardware and what speeds ur running would be very helpfull.

but if ur OCing the cpu then it looks like u need more vcore.
 
It's the G.skill 2gbx2 ram - marketed as pc8500 but I'm only running it at pc6400 atm. Voltages are default ( 1.8 on ram I believe, not sure what the cpu is ). Uhh, cpu is default speeds too ( 333x9 ). Bios F2 from gigabyte for the X38-DS4 Rev1.0 motherboard.
 
give the ram 2.0 at least , im sure those g.skills say "2.1-2.2v" on them

Yeah, when running at pc8500. They're running only at like pc6400 atm. Anyways, I'm testing the 2 cores in orthos and they're both on 768k without any changes.
 
prime failed whilst running a large fft , that's usually a sign of a memory rather than cpu error. check timings & vdimm, as suggested above.

so... when are you running it at less than stock ? why would you want less bandwidth ?

I'm running at less than stock just to make sure everything works. I'm going to up the speed on the ram in like 5 minutes, restart and run it again. probably add some fsb to the cpu too.
 
To stress the CPU run small fft. To test RAM run large fft. I never really understood the Blend test, b/c it doesn't stress either one as hard.

If large fft is giving you errors then up your RAM voltage. Most enthusiast RAM spec'd at pc8500 AND RAM spec'd at pc6400 (at tighter timings) needs more than 1.8v. Try at least 2.0v-2.1v to eliminate that potential variable in your OCing quest.

You are correct, I'm sure those G.Skills will do that speed at 1.8v. If you want to stress RAM, I suggest using MemTest+86 (bootable version) since it will be the only thing running and does a very good job of testing.

The only downside is the computer is completely "down" for as long as you run the test.
