best HTPC front end software?

so finallllly got around to building amedia center PC, and i need some front end software.

all i need is this:

something pretty, easy to navigate
play MP3s and videos from LOCAL HARD DRIVE only
able to use a generic media center remote

DONT NEED:
tv turner / capture - i have TV lol
dvds - i have a dvd player haha


suggestions of users on here?

I'm asuming you're running windows, If so try mediaportal... should work with no problem for what you want... Or maybe even windows media center. Or go out and get a linux distro and try MythTV!

media portal is by far the sweetest htpc interface out there, i love it

there's quite a few frontend software, Meedio, MeediOS, BeyondMedia, SageMC, window's own MC.

ive been using GBPVR and i love it


you can stream radio and all that, also you can make a machine act as a streamer.



there is a web admin program that you can use to do off the machine scheduling also


edit: support for GBPVR is killer too, SUB, the author posts pretty quickly in regards to problems you have.
