Neither... Both not very good at all.

8800GT will be bottlenecked by the 6400+, The Q6600 will be bottlenecked by the 2600Pro(poo card for gaming)

I votee.....

E8400
IP35-E
2GB Crucial Ballistix
Corsair VX450W
8800GT/3850/3870
*insert hardrive*
*insert other things here*

AMD system would be the better choice for gaming. You don't need quite as much CPU, and the GPU is clearly better.

I don't know why people are so hung up on having the perfect system by saying they're bottlenecked. Something is always going to be a little off.

Well, for a gaming PC, make sure you spend most of your budget on the graphics card, then CPU next.

JamesXP's suggestion is right on the money

ok screw that im just gonna build one.

yeah its a gaming rig, but i want it to be able to last a long time, hence the quad-core, i feel it would be a more future-proof investment.

BTW does anybody know a good modular PSU?

Why would AMD be good for gaming, c2d beats anything AMD now in everything.

does that WD 320g drive use perpendicular tech like seagate? i dont think it does, only 500g+ drives from WD do... but i could be wrong/

also i do love my corsair 520HX PSU.

Final choices look like your going to be a happy person!

Whats perpendicular tech?

So then how much could i OC with stock HSF

i already ordered everything so theres no way to make changes now cause i maxed out my budget :p

i can always add an aftermarket HSF at a later time.

but im just curious how far could i push it with stock HSF in your opinions?

I heard with the G0 stepping, ocing to 3.0ghz on stock HSF will be easy.

OK nevermind, I'm going to Microcenter in about an hour to buy a Tuniq Tower 120 to put over my Q6600.

This way i can get 3.0ghz easily, while keeping it cool :D.
