Is there something wrong with my 8800GT now?

When i first got this card it ran super cool, even when it was kinda hot inside. I have never seen it go over 53 C under load in crysis. But here recently the damn thing has been idle at 52 C and loads at 88 C and i cant play crysis anymore because it starts to artifact on me. Even when i adjust the fan speed to 100% in riva tuner the temps at idle dont adjust at all. So im wondering, could my fan be going out or something? When the accelero gets in stock on newegg im gonna go ahead and buy it, i shoulda bought it a long time ago. im oc'ed to 700/1700/950 (1900 effective) and have the volt mod done to it but i did the volt mod before and my temps were still really good in the mid 50's under load in crysis.

Did you change the location of your pc? Or has your house gotten hotter? Sounds silly but is a major factor. When my computer was at my house it was pretty hot, but at my apartment where we have like NO HEAT, its running at 39 idol, where it was 55 idol at my house.

Check out the heat sink to see if its also filled with dust as well.

well i did move my computer back into my room from the living room but i always have my window open and its cold outside so its a lot cooler in my room than it would be out in the living room. The only real difference is i don't have the fan on full blast like i did in the living room. But even when i do it the temps don't change they just go up. The ambient in my room is about 37 C and also I had just dusted my computer out with a vacuum. No dust in sight...

88c load for stock cooler seems just about right, have you changed the fanspeed or is it still set to 29% ?

Can you see (in RT Harware monitor) or hear the fan speed changing?

It probably got knocked during the move. I would take off the HSF (just 4 screws and its off) then put some AS5 on it while your at it, then replace.

That should fix it.
