This sounds like a bad idea. A key generator? Thats the best they could come up with? Didn't one guy in that think tank search 'key generator' on google? People have been breaking those codes for years and it is perhaps one of the least secure ways to keep kids from stealing your software. Why would it be any different for hardware? I hope Intel and AMD never use this crap because I would hate to need to call Intel every time an OC fails and I have to reactivate just to use MY computer.

I know very little about his tech and am over-reacting to it I suppose. I hate DRM in general. I see it hurting the good guys, the consumer, more than the bad guys, pirates. If anyone has more information than the little in the article I linked please share it and your views on this hardware DRM.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I doubt anyone has the capacity to copy Intel or AMD processors. If they are worried about defect chips flooding the market, then maybe they should increase their plant security.

Yeah, search people for any type of removable storage as they enter/leave, monitor network traffic, use only encrypted email, that type of thing. This whole keygen thing is kind of random.

this is one of the most retarted things i have heard in a LONG time.... hopefully if they go through with it then it is a one time deal
