Water Cooled 8800 Ultra OC Advice

I have my EVGA 8800 Ultra water cooled and would like to try to overclock it. What is a reasonable amount to overclock the 8800 Ultra without damaging it, I'd like it to last 2-3 years?

(EVGA 8800),(Core),(Memory),(Shader)
Stock, 612, 1080, 1.51
KO, 636, 1125, 1.63
Superclocked, 655, 1125, 1.66

most will do 702rop (core) stable.

the core revision on the Ultra is an 'A3' where as the GTX's got the 'A2' - the A3's have shown the ability to clock greater then 700core on AIR @ stock voltage quite frequently. i had an 'A3' cored GTS (g80) that i could bench @ 729core with an upped fan speed duty cycle. since your on water i would think 700 would be a good place to start.

You're not going to damage anything just by OCing. Volt-modding is a bit risky, though.

Your covered under warranty for just OCing, though.

See what she'll do!

Should be able to get at least 700 on the core I think.

Edit: too slow on the 700 comment.

I used RivaTuner to set my card to Superclocked specs 655 GPU, 1125 MEM, 1.66 Shader and got 14345 3DMarks.

Thanks, I'll try 700 on the GPU. Is it better to link the GPU and the Shader? Can the Shader handle 1729MHz?

Unlink them, and see what each will do in turn.

700 seems ok 14732 3DMarks this time with the GPU & shader linked. GPU temp was 47-48C MAX. during Unreal Tournament III and it is 81.5F in my office.

I had my Superclocked running at 705, but had Rivatuner upping my fan speed. Your watercooled should do considerably better... and quieter!

712 & 730 passed a 3DMark06 run, but 750 locked up on 3DMark06. 730 GPU Temp was only 49C under load, Do I need to read about more volts? I like the 18.0 GPixel/s & 50.4 GTexel/s numbers.

729rop was the highest i could get my 'A3' cored GTS (g80) to bench stable on AIR with fan speed at 100% - i think unless you hardmod the GPU 729 is the highest she will go. but hey, 729 overclocked Vs. 612 stock - not to bad IMO.

I would think rivatuner would be because thats what you set it with but whichever one tells you what you put in should be right.

RT Hardware Monitor is correct. These cards are based on a 27MHz crystal, so clock speeds jump up in factors or multiples of 27. Sometimes you have to move the slider quite a bit to get to the next step.

I'm not sure why GPU-Z reports incorrectly.
