SOooooo. I click a link on one of my alert emails and see these red words in the posts. Fortunately I do not login automatically to the site, otherwise I wouldnt see them.

Why is this ad thing there? I found it very annoying when I hovered over the word "sites" to have an advertisement for porn....

Hey! I got gay chat rooms when I didn't automatically log in. I was going to make a thread for it but you already had one.

It is very intermittent, each page highlighting random words, and each word showing different ads. Some thread don't have any words highlighted, and others have dozens.
Is it common to have the highlights removed from a forum for forum members? (on other forums?)

Also none of the popups will show for me now, they show a small gray square but no popup.

I will try. Have not been able to get the word "sites" to come up in red again.

And it was gay porn that was advertised.

Edit:Yea, I think it was what curtis's SS shows.. I only glanced at it for a second. Guess it technically isnt porn.

And that would benefit the forums how, Ben?

When things like this are brought to light, they are dealt with as quickly as possible when the people who manage this forum are notified. It WILL be dealt with, do not worry about that. No software ad bot is infallible, it seems.

Ben, as long as you log in to the forums, you won't see these ads. This wasn't my idea or any of the other mods or admins, but now visitors to the forums (or members not logged in) will be served those friggen contextual ads. I hate them with a passion myself and I can't blame anyone else for hating them too. But as long as you are logged in, they are not supposed to appear. If they do, then get in touch with one of the Staff and notify us so we can notify iNet. As a matter of fact, I have posted already about some of you being served up the Gay chat room contextual ads.

Also, and this is my personal opinion and not related to anything iNet or the other Staff here might feel about the subject. I highly recommend the use of Firefox with AdBlock Plus if you want to visit the forums without being logged in. AdBlock Plus is highly effective on removing those dreadful contextual ad links.

Hear that? That's the sound of new membership flying away.

If the inline ads creep into my screen when I'm logged in, ever, then there will also be the sound of mods flying away.

I don't like it, but I have long since given up on moaning at iNet about advertising.

When they took over we were promised only a single small ad at the top of the forum. Now we have tower ads, a larger ad at the top, ads at the bottom and ****ing inline ****ing text ads.

Lies, ****ing lies. I'm going for a cup of tea before I implode.
