NForce4 mobo + 8800/9600gt

I was thinking of grabbing a used one for my 2nd AMD rig (specs in my sig).

The DFI board has PCI-E 1.0a slots... Will the newer 8800/9600gt cards work on this board?

I've heard all sorts of horror stories about incompatibilities with older boards (especially VIA chipsets)...

I was checking for new hardware at my local computer store when I came up on a very, very special offer indeed...

A brand-new Palit 8800GT with the cool blue aftermarket cooler for only 120 euros!!!!!

I couldn't believe it, most 8800GTs here in Greece retail for 180-210 euros, sometimes even more!

Needless to say it was the last piece they had in stock, so I went ahead and bought it.

It runs great on my AMD rig and after an hour of ATI Tool artifact scanning the temps were around 62 degrees celsius, not bad at all!
