winrar help

Can anyone on here help me as i'm havin problems with unzipping large files. Everytime i try to unzip a file lets say 4gig my ram useage goes to 95 to 100% and my pc locks up. I have never had this problem before and it does it with winrar and winzip.

What about the built-in compression utility in Windows? Are these archives .rar files?

Are you running the most recent WinRAR?

I used to use winrar but fell in love with 7zip instead. Try that... You might find it better.
