Molecule draw rate (gui ver)

I would assume that more draw rate would take more CPU usage to show the protein...

Set draw rate to fast and set FAHMon to 1 or 3 frames and see if it hurts ;)

Most of us use console or service, so gui draw rates don't matter ;)

Hi,
Does the molecule draw rate in the gui versoin in the config sheet have any effect on the score, or how fast the WU gets done?
Thks in advance,
Doc

No matter what the client, if you have anything drawn or displayed anew on the screen, it will take cpu/gpu cycles to make that happen.

How much of a decrease it causes depends on where the data has to come from, (disk = very slow, RAM = slow, cache = fast), and how much of it there is, and what throughput your system has for data, from the source, to the screen.

On computer systems, you get very few "free lunches". One great one (not free, but very cheap), is the extra microcode resources that MS put into Windows for it's sorting command. In Windows 2000, at least, it's unbelievably quick. Another is bit operations which can be done in parallel, at the same time - nice. :)
