Gym Sacks - fashionable or not?

I keep on seeing guys walking around with these . Are these suddenly OK? They look like little man-purses, and I gotta say, they look pretty goofy. They seem to be associated with basketball/urban life, and I've just never thought as "ghetto" people being pro-manpurse.

I prefer a gym bag with structure like a duffel bag. I don't think your any less of a man for using the bag liked to though. I've also seen people using them.

I love mine. Its original purpose I believe was to hold shoes (especially athletic shoes for, for example, track and field) -- and I'm assuming they were first marketed by Nike, Addidas (?). Nowadays, there are many more brands out there, and they're used by people other than athletes going to a game. They're very useful for traveling when you need to leave your hotel or residence and walk around town (if you're a guy, what other options do you have, really?).

Also, they're much more 'in vogue' here in the UK than in Canada. Many young people use them.

I dunno what your deal with the term "manpurse" is, but like I said, if you're a guy, your options are pretty limited: knapsack, messenger bag, or this. If I'm walking into town and need to carry only a few misc. objects, this is the sack I reach for. Or if I'm heading to a rugby game, it's this bag, stuffed with my spikes, gums, water bottle, and kit.

I find it strange some people can immediately look at a simple cloth bag with strings and wonder whether they'll feel feminine using it. Are people that insecure these days?

I like structure, so I think those are worthless. I have a regular duffel bag that I use for all my gym clothes.

Yes, very much so, which is why they freak out about "looking gay," whatever that means, and freaking out over looking like they're wearing a purse.

I have one of those that I use when traveling about on my bike. It was originally meant for a Helmet holder, that I got with my Mnt Bike tires, but now I use it as my "manpurse." If it holds my water-bottle, pump, patch kit, handy tool, cell phone, jeys, and wallet with ease, then I guess I will "manpurse" it.

If you are calling it a man purse and worrying if you will look gay, then you are already halfway there.

Seriously, a real man could get a pink one with a Hello Kitty on it and not worry about what it might look like. Perhaps you should do that as well. Then when you are at the gym and some dude asks you if you are gay, just look him in the eye and say “bend over and let's find out”.

What's wrong with a back pack?

Those look like glorified barracks bags. i.e. laundry bag.

My college gave me one and I don't really use it. I agree that it lacks structure. However, I do see a lot of people with them around campus. They're ok for light notebooks and such.

Ok, you first, and lets see if your friends will walk around in public with you.

I either go with a backpack for school stuff or a duffel or golf shoe bag for sport gear.

I've never found these things to be useful.

Now, if you want a really nice bag... check out Maxpedition.

These guys make AWESOME gear. Probably a little much for some, but I love my pack.

The Typhoon is the one I have. I don't use the CCW functionality lol... but it's there for those who want it.
