Hey,

I just put together a system for my buddy, he has a q6600 (SLACR) on a p5k-e and I just booted it for the first time. The temp im getting in the bios at idle is 50-52 degrees C. This seems kind of high for an idle temp? Should I re-seat the HS? Or is it like a bios glitch or something?

Thanks

Unless your in an Easy Bake Oven that's high. 50~52 at idle is high.

What temperature program are you using and did you reseat the heatsink?

its the reading from the bios no i didnt re-seat yet.

I'd try that - you may not be able to get the temps down but it doesn't hurt to try.

Once you but a load on that quad your temps are going to really get high - have you considered a better heatsink?

I just downloaded core temp on it and core temp is showing 38 degrees C :)
