What's this: Timer requesting checkpoint?

The fah client will cause a checkpoint to be written out, after a certain length of time. Normally this happens when the next 1% is completed and you see the message "writing local files".

Timered checkpoints are the same thing as "writing local files", even though the next 1%, has not yet been reached.

If you want to reduce or eliminate them, you can re-configure the fah client to use a longer time between checkpoints, instead of the standard 15 minutes. This is part of the "advanced setup options" in the fah client.

The checkpoints are there to reduce the work lost if power is suddenly lost between each %. For example: if it saves every 15mins (default) then the most it can lose is 14m59s of work.

As Adak mentioned the advanced options allow you to adjust this checkpoint frequency, although it's nothing really to worry about.
