DD-WRT signal quality question..

I'm just wondering if there are certain ways to improve signal quality? I've tried seeing if it degrades when moving the xmit power from 28-50, but it tends to stay around 25-35% range.

Thanks in advance!

I used DD-WRT to up the xmit power on my router to 68mw. It extends the range a bit, but doesn't really help with signal quality. I am looking around for better antennas, which should help.

Yea, I'm still tinkering around with it, trying different options to see if the signal quality will stay higher. Hopefully a DD-WRT guru will come along soon

signal quality lies in the hardware and the interferience of other radio waves.... not the firmware.

as per messing with the xmit power and how it relates to signal quality

I would not recommend going above 68mw MAX ... only 50mw for normal use as beyond a certain point signal quality will severly degrade.

Yes I believe that the DD-WRT software will allow a range of up to 200mW! Do not got that high! I don't think your router would last long.

Yeah, depending on the router you might need extra cooling. My WL-500g previum isn't too bad for heat, but my WRT54G V3 gets too hot for my liking. Don't pump it up too much or it kills your wireless.

ya i must say my WRT54GL runs a lil warm even at stock... so i put a heatsink on the main cpu and have a slow 80mm fan blowing air into it.

i think its also against federal law to transmit up that high.
