anyone know of some good automated backup apps? I like the idea of Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, but I was thinking of running Windows Server 2008, Ubuntu, or maybe even OpenSolaris. Not sure it will run on those OS. Any recommendations?

The ability to "Backup individual files or folders" and browse the contents of those backups is the main lure of Acronis for me.

Amanda is probably the most powerful / sophisticated backup software out there. It's also free.

For some reason I thought that was specific to tape backups and I just realized that doesn't make sense! :)

Amanda will do pretty much anything/everything you could want.
