Help! New build BSOD

I just finished upgrading my computer with a Q9300, 4 gigs of XMS2, and DFI Lanparty DK, but there's something wrong. I'm not sure what;s causing it though. Everything is running fine in the BIOS, but when I load up my OS the Windows loading screen freezes for a second then BSOD's and reboots so fast that you can't read it. It's like a blue flash of light. I tried taking out each memory module seperatly so it's not DOA ram and everything is plugged in right, could it be that I'm running XP Pro for now until I upgrade to Vista 64? And I've also tried booting different hard drives with different XP installations so it's not an XP problem. What could it be?

If you changed your motherboard and CPU you need to reformat and reinstall windows. You cant just change significant hardware like that generally and go into the same version of windows, all of your drivers and chipsets will be completely different.

It's also possible the RAM isn't set to the right speeds by default and you need to set it manually to the specs it has listed.

If you have a bunk CD-ROM, the installation can get corrupted too.

Are you OC'ing during the install? Strip the comp down to the bare minimum (Mobo, CPU, RAM, 1 HDD (or 2 if going RAID) and CD/DVD Rom. Clear the Cmos and try to install. You may have to increase the RAM voltage to the specs of your RAM (I had this problem with a P5B and 680i using D9 Ballistix).

**Edit** I was assuming you were trying to do a clean install of Windows.

Crap, I was hoping I wouldn't have to re-install Windows, but tomorrow or the day after I'm going to get Vista Ultimate 64, I'll post my results.
