Ok, so I got this new mobo from the online chicken factory...

Its a Gigabyte GA-P35-S3G. :-/

It boots.
It goes into the BIOS & I can change things.

Save & Exit (more good things)

Now on Boot up, to floppy drive (sees it fine)
I load with CD support.

It stops and says devices not found / seen -aborting.

I go into the BIOS, and volia! there is my CD drive. & or the DVD drive.
either one is seen IN THE BIOS.

but not afterwards.

I am very unfamiliar with this BIOS..

Is it a setting maybe that I am missing?
Bad floppy disk?

When I set it to BOOT FROM CD, it doesn't.

-doesn't see it.

BIOS version is F2 I think.
Looking for another now.

I'm open to suggestions ATM. :bang head

TIA
WII

I have an old Win 98 boot disk, I am booting from floppy with CD support.

Because, when I try to boot from CD alone, nothing happens.
but it is seen it in the BIOS. (the CDdrive)

So I'm confused.

You never mentioned if the harddrive was shown. Is the system seeing the harddrive in the BIOS? If it's a SATA drive you may have to load the drivers (which come on the motherboard CD), before the system setup will recognize the drive and allow you to continue setup.

Try with only one Rom Drive connected

huh? I only have 1 CD drive connected.

WII is the JMicron 368 chip enabled in the bios & set for IDE ??

Double checking now, buried somewhere in the BIOS.
Onboard IDE Controller = enabled

Looking for the JMocron info still. BRB. :-/

What operating system are you trying to install? TTBoMK Win98 isn't supported by the newer (P35) hardware but the 98 DOS7 floppy will boot into DOS as most DOS versions will.

EDIT: Good info Audio, I didn't know that.

Ok, everything is seen "in the BIOS."

Everything looks fine and good.

For the hell of it, I threw in a Ultimate Boot Disk & rebooted.

It is now working. (BOOTING FROM CD) :bang head

I guess I wasn't sticking my tongue out "just right". :p

- I really need to go back to school and learn about BIOSs again.
Time to install the OS now. - OH JOY !

Thanks Guys.

Well... looks like the cavalry has arrived and you've got it working. :)

I've personally become quite a Gigabyte fan... I believe that board will serve you well. :)

I really really hope so. :)
Its for the Mrs.

It's the 6th board I've tried so far.
All the others have been DOA for one reason or another.

My P5k board, I ended up loading Ubuntu on, so I didn't have this problem.
