The point average, what's it based on?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering what the point average on Boinc was based on, because I saw mine climb too 600 and then fall back to 200 after a week of not running boinc, and now, after running it a few weeks 24/7 I'm at 800 average

so what's the average based on and how is it calculated?

thanks

your WU's need to get validated after you finish crunching and send them back, so sometimes it takes awhile to get credit for complete WUs. heres a link on how credit is calculated http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Computation_credit

RAC=recent average credit. It's similar to a daily average only the BOINC SETI site is down enough they had to change the frequency to smtn a little longer than a day

Unless things have changed the RAC calculation is a bear and involves a lessening of credit values over time. That's the reason I stick with a simple daily average over the last week's granted credit.

If you really want the particulars (and have recently worked with basic power equations) you can find it here: http://www.boinc-wiki.info/RAC

For my money I'll continue to use Credit/Week divided by seven ...
