Howdy folks! A few people expressed some interest at a comparison between an 8800Ultra (XFX XXX ed) and the new GTX280 in 3dMark06 and Crysis at 1024x768, 1280x1024, 1600x1200, 1920x1200, and 2560x1600.

System in sig, and here are the Cpuz and Gpuz shots (8800Ultra, GTX280, GTX280 OC). Results to follow!

Crysis results for 1280x1024, 1920x1200, and 2560x1600 all high settings, no AA, Windows XP (other resolutions upon request)... Crysis is actually playable at 2560x1600 (WinXP DX9)!

What settings is Crysis at there? Also, have you tried pushing the GTX280 any further? Mine's coming in shortly, I've seen some people reach 715core/1550shader/2600ram, so kinda curious if yours has any more oomph left in it :D. Seems to scale very well with overclocking.

Highest settings allowable in Windows XP with Crysis without ultra high cheat (all high), no AA.

As for pushing it harder, the temps were making me nervous so I stopped
80C+. I'm sure it has more in it but I don't think I'll try till I get it on water.

never mind?

I don't mind some ultra ocs too, just to see oced ultra vs oced 280GTX :)

Nice benches! Thanks!

The GTX280 is one powerfull card, wow, pity it is so darmn expensive:bang head

not bad

im liking the 3d mark 06 scores. and the crysis fps are pretty damn good.

i could of picked one up (had 400 bucks) could of saved up the rest but decided to get a ps3 (HUGE MGS Fan)

MSG FTW! It is such a good game I have already nearly completed it

Anyway you will be saving money in the long run as the price of the card will surely drop when ATi release theirs, or they make a die shrink sometime soon (I have heard anywhere from August to next year, so I am not sure if there is an official date yet)

I will be getting a Zotac Amp! Gtx280 soon. I wonder how much better it is at overclocking. As it is usually from a good batch, it might overclock really well. Shame one of my 8800gts 512mb has gone for RMA, 2x8800gts OC 512mb vs 1xGTX280 OC would be interesting to see.
