which AMD processor is the DC OC King?

i am talking about the general processors that are cheap that you can OC to get to run as fast or faster than the expencive chips.

i've had alot of luck with my windsor but i have no experence with the brisbys (brisby land!)
i'm looking at making a small computer thats relativly energy efficient and i wanted to be able to OC a great deal aswell

so which is it?

Hope I'm not hjacking but what is your budget? For all you know, a $70 intel E2180 @ 3.2ghz will be your ideal option! Do factor in the cost of the more expensive intel motherboards and aftermaket heat sink too.

Not to be rude, but read the title, he said "AMD" processors. If he has specified that, I'm sure he knows what he wants.

Besides getting the best stepping there isn't much you can do. There are no guarantees in OC, try to research the mobo's max FSB and choose the lowest multi which gives you the desired OC. This way although you won't break any records you can still say man I just OCd this guy 40% on the other hand a 5000+ BE barely costs more than the cheapest G2 Brisbanes.

I got mine few months ago and has no problem doing 3G at stock V.

I have to agree, the 5000BE has the higher top with some of the newer Brisbane low wattage units getting nice clocks but I think the 5000 gets higher overall mhz.

If you are getting a board, check out the newer SB750 boards, they may make a difference on K8 in addition to K10.

I'm a big fan of the $60 G2 Brisbane variants running around, generally the BE 5000+ will get better clocks, but bang for buck I think something like a 4200+ G2 is better in the hands of a skilled overclocker.

Well my X2 3600+ Brisbane does 2.9GHz and the whole computer using the Biostar TF7050 uses 68w at the wall. That includes 3 HDD's. Its very good.

god damn it, external links from apps have stopped opening new windows and started using the one I AM TYPING IN! this is the 3rd time i have had to re type this. friggin frusterating, and i hate repeating my self.

i may get a cheepo single core like a orleans or a sparta (SPARTA!!!!) untill better processor become cheaper or a possible lower wattage and/or die shrink comes arround (they have been known to suprise)
no one it seems like no one gets the cheepo processors and tweaks them or check for unlockable cache any more. its been some time since i have seen people do this, like socket a some time even. atleast on here. i remember seeing alot of durons pass athlons in clock speeds some times (with the right cooling of course) but not so much any more. i wonder if a 65nm sparta (rwar SPARTA!!! rwar) would make it past 3.5Ghz. its half a brisby right?

a 3800+ would be good, a little more than an orleans or a sparta (rwar SPARTA!!! rwar) but i would have to buy it off of scary Froogle or Pricewatch retailers.

what i really would like is this:
http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/362..._3800+_EE.html

if it truly exists and does run 1.07V. i could only imagine. 0.375 V less than a regular, it seems like alot of head room, highly binned possibly? something i would be willing to trade some stuff for but i dont see any remnants of it online other than here so i am in doubt its real.

no i refuse to buy asus any more, too many DOA or crappy cappy boards and poor customer service. the only company i absoutly will not ever buy again.

That's why I said I was not meant to be hjacking :P and I respect the OP's decision. I'm supprised a 5200+ could get such great OC! I could only get 3.5 on a E6750 using a TRUE with 1.488 volts .

I'm glad you're helping to conserver the environment too!

i try for the enviorment but cost of electricity as well, if i'm going to game a hard core game i'll use my main rig which i am sure the way it is, is one of the most in efficient computers in the valley.
i am not sure how much wattags a 5200+ running at 3.3Ghz (lost 100Mhz last bios update but they fixed alot) but i am pretty sure its a little high, on top of the overclocked videocard and the ram and PSU i am using....yea

Haha! If only you had a more efficient PSU :P.

Just curious, you just want to assure yourself the 5200+ is still the facto de choice right? You don't mean to upgrade right?

no i am gonna bulid another small computer and i would like to get another 5200+ or any other 1 meg per core cache but the price hasnt come down since i bought mine a while back.

new egg is outa stock but they show the 5200 as $140, the 6000 as $120 (which is odd) and theyre both windsors. i would get an opteron but there seems to be no price difference and no real reason to get it over any thing else.

the only reason the computer i have now is the way it is is because every once in a while i'll upgrade a part or 2 but buliding a whole new one from scratch is a little harder on the wallet. i'll probally get something cheap so i can atleast use the computer untill prices come down or there is something new that comes out of no where. it'll probally be a single core sempron, mabe athlon if i can get it for about the same price. i'd imagine it would OC really well. or a 4200+ because lets face it, if you can get the same speed for half the price of the faster one, why not?

i notice there are 5400b and 5200b processors now, is it a new core or is it a brisby revision?

I have built 11 systems with the M2N-SLI Deluxe and a 5200+ and all of them hit 3.2ghz no problem. The nice thing about the 5200+ is it has a 1mb L2 per core versus the 5000+ only having half that.

I've seen some really nice overclocks on that P5E-VM board, but I'll be quiet now since this is the AMD section.

dont know much about brisby's but my windsor does ok at 12x230 with 1.328v. a little better cooling and it might be stable there, that and if the mobo had some voltage options above 1.328v.

oh i know about windsors, mines running 300 x 11 1.36 volts but like i say before theyre a little more than i can afford at the moment if i am putting a new computer together.

and whats odd is my GPU fan just dropped its 100% fan duty...its been running 100% since i got it and now it decides to go down even though i tell it to go to 100%, this is odd

If your running rivatuner to control it sometimes driver updates can mess with the fan speeds.
