Hello everyone, i am new to these forums and this is my 1st post :)

I'll try to explain my problem/concerns as clear as possible.

Right now i have my e8400 @ 4.0Ghz with vcore@ 1.336v (CPU-Z) / 1.400v(BIOS) i am not quite sure if its high or is it ok? Would like some input!

my bios settings are the following:

CPU ratio: x9
FSB: 445
PCI: 100
Dram: 891Mhz 5-5-5-15 (5-4-4-12 original)
CPU volate: 1.4000v (1.336v in cpu-z)
CPU PPL: auto
FSB Termination: Auto
DRAM voltage: 2.20v
NB voltage: 1.55
SB voltage: auto

temps are .. idle / 49-51 load

now when i run PRIME95, my first core fails right away, why is this happening? :bang head

I tried running orthos and it fails completely right away.

i loosend up the timing on ram (PC6400) from original 5-4-4-12 to 5-5-5-15 @ 2.20v to see if that helps, also tried to lower and up soem cpu volts but didnt fix it.

what settings can i tweak/try to see if i can ran a stable 4.0Ghz and perhaps lower my vcore (if i need to)?

Any help would be appreciated.

Try lowering your memory multiplier so you can get your ram closer to 800 or under just to see. If that won't work try upping your cpu voltage core just to see if you are hitting a wall with your cpu.

I dont see how i can change multiplier, my memory is 1:1 with cpu

this is what i get in orthos:

Type: Blend - stress CPU and RAM Min: 8 Max: 4096 InPlace: No Mem: 1791 Time: 15
CPU: 4005MHz FSB: 447MHz [500MHz x 8.0 est.]
CPU: 4005MHz FSB: 447MHz [500MHz x 8.0 est.]

I dont think i can change memory multiplier on p5k-e.. at least i dont see any in the bios here.
O i missed it your running PC6400 ram that is low as you can go on 445 fsb:)

Well go for more voltage and see if your hitting a wall

With my P5K it's under Advanced>CPU Configuration>CPU Ratio Control. Should be the same for the E version I'd think. Change from auto to desired setting. Set DRAM Frequency to 667mhz setting and increase your FSB to 400mhz and work with your multiplier to bring up the CPU speed. Orthos never shows the right current CPU speed, just what the speed would be with the default multiplier x current FSB.

ya but i idle at 34c and load at 62c... well when prime ran ~ when i tested it

alright thanks guys, i am going to start with 3.9ghz stable tonight and will try for 4.0ghz tomorrow :)

Alright, so far i have it running stable with Orthos for 12 hours @ 3915.1Mhz with vcore @1.392v

is there anything i can do with my other settings in the bios to bring the voltage a bit down perhaps?

CPU PPL: auto
FSB Termination: Auto
DRAM voltage: 2.20v
NB voltage: 1.55
SB voltage: auto

thanks
