RESERATOR 1 V2

I'm planning on building a new system over the course of this year to replace my aging system. The main needs for my computer is silence.

I as just having a look into water cooling as a possible method of cooling the new PC, particularly the RESERATOR 1 V2.

I plan on using a Q6600 and a nVidia 280. I don't need to overlock the Q6600 very much at all but I would like to hit 3Ghz. Would the Reserator be enough to keep these both silent and cool?

Cheers,
zbo

No, no and no. The pump is very weak on these kits unless replaced and it is a pain in the rear to remove the base from the reservoir. The temperatures are nothing special and if you want to OC 50mhz, you might as well be doing it with a stock cooler.

If you plan on just running a CPU loop with no overclock, then you will be ok as long as the Reserator sits at level with your computer tower.

As far as pre-assembled kits, as the Reserator, they are there for looks and perform about as well as a stock cooler.

A Zalman 9500 or 9700NT will do better.

The Reserator kits are pure eye candy. They are silent though

Not to mention a GTX280 puts out a TON of heat.

I can't see a zalman kit being able to adaquately cool the GTX280 even if you put fans all over it.

Fair enough, so what sort of water cooling should I be looking at. The case is a Lian Li V2110 - but I want to cooling to be silent, what manufactures should I be looking at? (UK)

Even though I have fond memories of modding my first reserator, I can't recommend one today. With the heat output of contemporary processors (CPU and GPU), there's no way that a stock reserator can adequately handle cooling duties.

There's "silent," and then there's "silent."

If you know what I mean. If you're willing to have quiet fans, get some slow speed yate loons on thermochill radiators. Those won't make too much noise, and the airflow will really help your cooling out.

As for what size/how many to go with, I'm not familiar with the case so I wouldn't know o.O

Lookies at my sig. It was silent till I added a Ultra X3 1000w PSU. It's the by farthest loudest thing in my system, and it's rated very quiet at idle.
