I'm looking at a new hard drive and am wondering what the real life difference between 32 and 16mb of cache will be.
I know between 2 and 8 it was insane, but 8 and 16 I didnt notice much.
Anyway, I can get a 500gb Seagate for the same price as a 500gb Maxtor, the maxtor has more cache, but also used to be called a quantum fireball, which I had the misfortune to own.

Is there still a shadow over maxtor and is the extra cache worth the risk if there is?
