E5200 = New (45nm) Budget OC King?

Just saw this over at techPowerUp! [ LINKY ] Its news about Intel's new budget chip, the E5200 .. Its 45nm, runs @ 2.5GHz stock (200, so 800 FSB) and here's the killer thing ..

It runs off a 12.5x multi!!

Quote:
It got to 4GHz (320x12.5) on 1.384v and they'll probably sell for around $100 ... Now I dun o about anyone else but the instant theses babies are out I'm getting a couple .. lol

Cheers

12.5x multi dayummmmmmmmm

2MB of cache is a tad low, but 3MB seems to do just fine, not sure if there would be a big hit when losing 1 more MB.

price speculation out yet?

If that's sub 100, gg.

4.0GHz isn't even hard anymore in Intel silicon

That is, indeed, awesome. Who knows, maybe there are E5300-E5500s to come? 13x, 13.5, 14x, etc. That'd be sweet.

Those high multi chips are great for ppl with crap ram. I would'nt want one tho. I'd like a chip with a 10 multi. That'd be perfect

12.5x multi? What does that mean? E5200 doesn't exist. It's not on the Intel site.

I haven't OCed an intel rig for a while. Will my current ddr2/667 make do? It's running 285 on fairly loose timings now.

exactly, L2 cache size is not that significant

Speed is king

12.5x is the chip's multiplier, times the system bus speed (200 MHz) results in the 2.5 GHz core speed. Proof of the E5200's existence is provided in the top post.
