When is an MP not an MP

I have been given a half built system which the owner wants me to "connect it all up". I have connected everything as normal then went to boot the system. The owner said the CPU was an XP 1600+ but for some reason it is comes up as an athlon MP 1050Mhz. Is it an MP or is it possible that it is being detected wrongly? It doesnt say on the chip what model or speed it is, the chip is brown and just says Athlon. Also the system seems to hang for about 10 seconds before it attempt to boot an OS.

Wilkommen Sie,

Firstly,

Ensure the FSB is set at 133MHz .

Secondly,

If there is a BIOS setting to disable MP bit identify or similar - use it.

I sure hope that MoboCity isn't your company !!

im almost sure ur bus is set at 100, and i believe once you fix that your processor will also be identified properly
