antec 900 case mods?

so, i found a really good deal on the antec 900 at newegg ($70 shipped after MIR, i posted in the cyber deals section)...

i need a new case, but i think that i would prefer the cooler master 690. are there mods that people have done to enable the 900 to route wires behind the motherboard tray? how do you do it? (dremel? drill? what bits?)

just curious, because i can't seem to get a cm 690 shipped for under $100.

thanks@!

The stock condition of my Antec 900 was plenty. There are some slots to the right of the mobo tray that I route most of my PSU cables up into. The ones that I don't need I taped down to the backside of the mobo tray, the ones that I do need I routed back up and through. I can take a few pictures maybe when I get home tonight to show you my setup.

they are stock, I used them for that too, Case is perfect as is, no modding needed.

I have to disagree with the no mods necessary statement to a degree. It's a lower mount PSU spot, so I found to keep things at least a little sane, I had to drill a hole to run my PSU and USB wires. Don't get me wrong, I love my Antec 900 and even bought a second for my "mirror rig", but It does need minor modding for the "ultra clean" look, IMO. I'm actually still working out some cable management details(Darn Cold Cathodes and Water cooling thermostat).

This case is very easy to mod for wire management (check the build link in my sig). In the second post I have a few pics which show the areas in which I elected to cut, then later on how it turned out. As for hardware upgrades, its no problem at all. I have (since the build thread) have crossfired a pair of 3870's, so I simply untied the unused PCIE plug from the hidden web of wires and poked it through a hole.

The only tool I used was my dremel, with a few spent cutting wheels and a deburring wheel. I had previously painted the inside, which I highly recommend, so the tape was there to protect the finish. Now obviously you could paint before any serious modding begins.

This case is also great for the avid DIY'er and the folks who like the hands-on approach to things. The satisfaction of doing it yourself and seeing it pay off is great too.

Yup.

I had an older model that didn't come with the pre made holes. Nothing a hole saw couldn't fix.

Go to the wire managed thread here:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=445933

There are plenty of 900's shown in there, and I know there's 1 or 2 that are the new revision with the holes.

Newegg's CM 690 is $79.99 with $18.99 3 day shipping. Under $100 shipped right there.

I say just get another case. You might like it, but to me the wire management just sucks.
