I know I probably mentioned this before but it happened again and I forget what to do. See there is this folder I can't delete a certain foldert. My computer says I don't have permission to delete it and yes, I am admin.

I have a "kind of" similar problem, and was wondering if you guys knew this program would help.

Before I installed Vista Ultimate-64, I had made a backup of an 8gig SDHC card from my digital camera, ploped it in a winrar, and had it stored on the desktop of XP Pro.

I can SEE the rar. I can right-click the rar, and it tells me its ~8gigs in size. But if I open the rar file, it's empty. If i try to extract or move it, it tells me I do not have the correct permissions for that action.

My account as well as the backup Admin account, are in my control.
I've tried right clicking, properties, and releasing/resetting permissions with no luck so far, unless I'm doing it wrong.
Also tried copying it to an old XP Home rig, same problem.

8 gigs is alot of pictures. Help?:bang head

right click, go to security tab, then choose advanced tab.

Click on owner tab. Try to take ownership of the file.

The link that mbentley provided also applies to Vista, as there is no specific KB article that applies to Vista re: file / folder ownership. And Unlocker is capable of much more than just the ability to "kill the process", so thefly's suggestion was valid and a good one. The following article basically expands on that which mbentley linked you to, except that it's specific to Vista...

huh you would think that ownership would be the problem but it doesn't seem to be. When I went where it shows the permissions in Properties it said that I had full control.

Try deleting the folder from the command prompt, in elevated mode following the instructions in the 2nd link I provided.
