Out of nowhere, my friends laptop froze and after he shutdown and restarted it, he can not get onto his desktop. He can load up to logon screen, but after that, he gets a light blue screen like the desktop is about to load, but does not. He cannot access ctrl-alt-del here, no cursor, or anything. He has also tried to run a repair install and starting it up in safe mode with no luck. Any suggestions to why windows vista is doing this or how to solve his problem? If there is no fix, is there any way to save his files from his HDD before he tries reformatting?
