Is Half life 2 multi threaded

I was wondering if my favorite game, Half life 2, is multi threaded. I know Episode 2 is, but what about the origional.
I ran task manager and one core was loaded, and the other has slight jumps in use, does this mean it's multi threaded.
I thought that if it wasn't, the core's would balance out 50/50

yes and no, it isnt %100 multi-core, it still uses 1 core primarily, even Tf2 uses one core mostly, but may use a 2nd core a few %'s

if it "was" it would balance across cores and not use one core %100

Partially. There is tweaks you can do to the .ini file that will make more use of multi-cored systems but its still bearly uses it, if lucky you might get 20-30% usage out of the second core.
