got the Asus P5Q3 Deluxe/Wifi and popped my E8400 and with everything on auto except for FSB on 435, she's running at 3.915. Vcore is 1.304

Oops, Prime95 got an error 15 minutes into it on core1. :( Looks like I have to start tweeking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, it's a start. I couldn't even sniff 3.6 stable on the Evga 790i

Actually ran prime 95 again(Small FTT) and it was stable for 1 hour before I stopped it.

Voltage is set on auto. CPU-Z and HW monitor show it at 1.304. That's not bad for 3.915 MHz.

Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz DDR3 ram 2 x 2 GB
4870X2 @ 792/990
E8400
Asus P5Q3 Deluxe/Wifi

How can I tell what the other voltages are since they are set to auto? I did disable the spectrum etc. but everything is on auto except the FSB which is set to 435.

A screenshot of the bios would totally rock ;)

I'm not familiar with the specific board you are using, but I'll be able to help some I'm sure and as the thread progresses, others will jump is as well.

You are entering the OC level with the Wolfdales where you really have to pump it up to keep it stable. I wouldn't be suprised if you needed to increase to 1.36+ to get 4ghz stable, but I hope you have a better chip than I did:(

Remember, if it fails Prime once, it will fail again at the same settings. Like Oldskool said, let's have a look at your BIOS settings:)

This is the vCore needed for my E8400 at various clockspeeds:

3.0Ghz at 0.9500v
3.6Ghzt at 1.1875v
3.82Ghz at 1.2250v (stock VID)
4.0Ghz at 1.3250v
4.338Ghz at 1.4125v (everyday 24/7 operating speed)
4.4Ghz at 1.4750v for benches

I miss my E8400 :(

Thanks.. That's great. I'll use this as a bit of a guide. I got 3.91 on 1.304 so I'll go from there.
