my brother, and now that he asked me, and i would like to know how to view/find the folder of websites with pictures on them of if you even can. i know some sites have it but i'm not sure how or if all sites can do it.

i'm talking about the directory like in the picture below if that helps.

here is what my brother is asking

How can I view web site folders like this...

1st I find an interesting image like this...
http://www.fanimages.com/Miscellaneous/Sci Fi/imagepages/image11.html

Then I remove the file name from the link and I can see all folders and files like this...
http://www.fanimages.com/Miscellaneous/Sci Fi/imagepages/

But some pages like this...
http://www.art.eonworks.com/free/wallpapers/1280x1024/Suburbs_2100-1280x960.jpg

Won't show me the files and folders when I remove the image file name from the URL like this...
http://www.art.eonworks.com/free/wallpapers/1280x1024/

Is there a program or some method I can use to see the files and/or folder names on these type of web sites?

thanks for any help

Many webservers restrict access in a manner where you can get to the files, but not to the directory.
Alternatly, they may also use URL Rewriting, which essentially means they map the url you see in the address to the actual real location, which remains unknown to you.

So, no.

the second website appears to be running a php script in order to serve images... which basically means that each page is running an index.php (whether you can see it or not)

the first website has no index file in it which allows you to see the directory

you can try to use piclens.

this is a program that lets you seach the internet a bit like google image search does, however this is a bit more advanced where it doesnt display any text, and the gui is a bit like an art gallery where you can keep going and going like a never ending wall of photos.

also, you can go to the website of your choice, eg a facebook photo album that someone has, and then click the piclens icon in the photo and then piclens will launch and very quickly thumbnail every photo it can get to, eg every photo you would be able to get to by clicking next on each link.
this saves a lot of time and clicking!
