Hardy a step backwards? what do you think?

So I've been a fan of Ubuntu for the last few iterations. I was pretty late to try Hardy and even though my hardware hasn't changed I feel like it's a step backwards. Do you guys agree?

On my first install I had some weird issues with rights where I couldn't shutdown or reboot the machine unless I specifically did it through the command line. So I let it go for a bit..and then tried a reinstall after a few months. This time things seemed better, and I am impressed with the improvement of my wireless working out of the box however it seems to really drag. I don't know if my overclocked processor is confusing it because I get a scaling issue on start up but while firefox is loading pages it slows my computer down...sometimes to a complete mouse freeze until it's done. I also can;t launch the GDM control panel it opens and closes.

Now I've had several versions of Ubuntu running on this desktop and have never had core slow down or broken menu issues, and I currently have a version of feisty 64 running on my laptop with an ATI card and Compiz..and it works perfect. whats going on here....is the latest version of Ubuntu a dud?

Personally I liked Gutsy better but I have had no major qualms with Hardy. However, I am using a Hardy derivative right now (Mint 5.0) so currently I have mythbuntu based on Hardy, Mint based on hardy, a Gutsy install and a CentOS box. No actual hardy, perhaps its the actual *buntu install. However I did notice that they have an updated version of Hardy perhaps you can try that?

I started w/ Feisty. I loved Fiesty. It seemed like every later release had some nice features but at the same time kinda more problems. I've switched to gentoo since and it rocks!

I've been using Kubuntu Hardy since day one and haven't had any issues related to the OS. In fact I got a nice speed boost out of the new kernel. I've had plenty of problems running the KDE 4.X betas though . So I also haven't run a real Ubuntu install.
