VelociRaptor - Not enclosed???

Complete noob here, would like to thank OCF for the "search" function. Almost every question I've had has been answered by using it. Looking at the VelociRaptor, it's not completely enclosed? If it's not, what about dust collecting on the disks or dog hair being sucked in by the case intake fan?

Welcome!

I would like to see an open HDD . Reminds me of those large black disk my grandparents have, except smaller, faster and silver.

Alot of the pics of the device show it as if it is open, but once you get it you will see otherwise. It is completely enclosed, and you cannot see the disk or the head..

I've run them open for data recovery purposes and they'll run fine for a while. I always laugh at the "clean room" nonsense that gets spread about the sensitivity of hard drives. Dust isn't good for the drive mechanism for the head actuating arm. Dust on the platters themselves is likely to be inconsequential until the platter is no longer visible or can freely move because of it .
