Hard drive keeps disconnecting

One of my hard drives keeps disconnecting in BIOS and gets re-recognized after my computer is turned off for like 30 minutes. From this it seems like a temperature problem, but it is not warm at all to the touch after using it. I made sure none of the connections were frayed and all properly connected.

Could this be a power problem? Or is it a problem with the southbridge?

Have you tried using a different data cable? Does the HDD sound like it's running when you have the computer on?

You can also connect a different HDD to the same data port and same cable and see if it also disconnects. If it does it could be either the cable or the southbridge/dataport it hooks up to.

Ok I swapped the HDD cable and it seems to be working now.

Would I lose any information or "bridges" by swapping the HDD cable? My hard drives are in a JBOD configuration.

No as long as its hooked up the same way the cable changes nothing its just the medium on which data is passed.
