When I choose turn off in the menu, the loading hourglass just comes up. The dialog box with the 3 choices doesn't even come up. I shut the sys off by the button after a few secs, but it use to be fine, I have the latest patches also.

First thing...check your OC on both the CPU and Ram...if still does this issue when set at default...bring up the task manager and start manually shutting programs down until you come across the one that is "locking" up...this might be from a program that is refusing to shut down or might be "stuck" if its not a OC issue

Well, I don't OC so that issue is out of the way.

Try removing the nVidia NAM (Network Access Manager) via Add/Remove Programs--> nVidia Drivers, or nVidia Network Access Manager.

Ok, why would it just have started this a week ago? I didn't change anything before it started & ctrl-alt-delete does nothing. Anyway I will remove NAM & see if that works. Well removing NAM didn't work, will removing event log tell why I am having trouble?
