When trying to play videos on Vista 32bit it says codec required and only plays sound

When trying to play videos through window media player or any other player on Vista 32bit it says codec required and only plays sound but on my other vista 64 partition and other computers the video plays fine? Anyone know what this might be?

Computer: Gateway laptop.

I noticed that when I tried 64 and went back to 32 bit but was fixed after I downloaded the vista codec pack, don't know why it worked on 64 vs 32 though

you need codecs,. your missing some

download either

CCCP

or

FFDShow
Xvid
Ac3

and that should cover most videos

what format is the video your trying to play?
