I cant get Ubuntu to see my video card
The video card is a Nvidia Grforce 2 mx

The screen resolution is only 800x600? I should be able to have better resolution than that??

What do I need to do?

I'm a linux noob as well, but mine was recognized out of the box, but I had to adjust the screen resolution by going to sysem/preferences/screen resolution.

So far as drivers you can try going to system/administration/hardware drivers and selecting the nvidia drivers.

What driver are you using, nv or nvidia?

If you use the nvidia binary drivers you must use a version < 72.

Version 96 of the proprietary drivers does not support the geforce 2.

Yes, and I wrote that several posts up. =P <72. From 72 on, nvidia dropped support for the Geforce 2 series, and from 97 on, they dropped support for the geforce 4 series. Not sure where the 3 falls as I never had one.
