GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev.1.1)
I have a serious problem with this motherboard. It's been happening for a few months now (Since I bought it) and every time I try contacting Gigabyte support online they're reply is always "Check to make sure everything is connected properly"... It is. A lot of help there. My computer seems to corrupt data when ever I shut down or restart. It also happens randomly at times as well. I've tested the hard drives on another computer and its fine. I've come up with one or two reasons. The first is the IDE controller (SATA on IDE mode) is bad on the Motherboard, or the CPU itself is bad. Perhaps the motherboard is not compatiable with the CPU even if it says it supports it. CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ clocked at... I believe... 3.24Ghz (Or 3.16Ghz.. I'm not at my home PC right now, no internet). Ram: OCZ 2x2GB.. timings, I believe, are 5-4-4-15. 2.1V. I'm about to try flashing my BIOS, but I don't think that will help - IDE controller is not part of BIOS correct?. I've tried setting the hard drive in large access mode, nothing. It might be because I had to straighten out some of the CPU pins (Well, a jeweler did it) but then that argument has no point because I have a spare at home that did the same thing. The only thing I can think of is the CPU under load gets up to 67C, supposedly after 63C stability problems can occure on the cpu, but I don't know. Should I just scrap this board (And never buy a gigabyte again). If so, can you recommend any other good boards?. If not, and you know how to fix this huge problem I'm having then please tell me. The OS is not the issue, unless its because its a 64bit OS. I've tried 64bit linux, XP, and Vista. It's really irritating. I've reinstalled over fifteen times in the last two months. |
