i really did not know where to post this as its
not really topical but im needing a hand.........


i got 2 films d/loaded yester day and they are .avi format i went to play them got the codecs error - went and got the divX codecs ran the .exe and also dropped the dll and codec files into
C:\win\system
C:\win\iosubsys
C:\Prog files\win med player
the films then played with picture and sound instead of just sound,

i formatted my c drive lst night and now whatever stroke of luck i had is now gone what am i doing wrong guys?

Reinstall the codecs

done that first and dropped them all over the pc as in above still nowt????

Try redownloading the file to make sure it wasn't corrupted, and TRIPLE check you have all the files installed properly .

What DivX version do you have? 4.11 is the most recent that I know of

done all this and more , i thought there was maybe an elementary thing i was missing and i know the movies r fine as i watched some yesterday??on this machine with same proggys only done a format??????????

are u running xp? my bro's comp is runnin xp and he has all the codecs and when he plays a avi movie he can only hear the sound. He fixed this by downloading a program called "powerdivx nextgen" and it plays everything fine.
