I just received my ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard and the Core i7 CPU, I couldn't find a heat sink that suits me or would fit in my case without obstructing the top fan so I was wondering,
I am going to use the stock Intel cooler that came with the CPU until more heat sinks are available, is it ok to clean it and use arctic silver 5 on this cooler?
Thanks...

Yes, replacing the TIM with AS5 would be a good idea.
There are new brackets out that can be used to fit older heat sinks such as the TRUE etc.

In fact, if you didn't use AS5 over the stock TIM I would be worried ;)
Just don't expect to get much, if any, OC with the stock cooler.

2.8ghz its like 50celsius, and I wont do othos on stockcooler.
Waiting for waterblock and stuff and until then its low end ;)

I was able to pick up a Noctua NH-U12P with a 1366 adapter locally.
So other mounting kits will come out soon
