I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop. When using Shrink DVD to backup DVD's there is a beep when it completes the backup. I want to turn it off but I don't know how. Even when I have headphones plugged in with the volume set to off there is still a beep.

I believe that the system speaker, a very small speaker mounted to the motherboard. It is independent of the main speakers on the laptop. The best way to mute it is to disassemble the laptop and put a piece of tape over the speaker, or even de-solder it. Kinda extreme sounding but I believe its the only way.
