How low is too low (voltage)

Im trying to make my system a lil bit cooler and i heard that lower voltage = lower temps.

So how low should i put my CPU at?

Run the voltage as low as you can with your system still being stable.

Lowering your voltage is not dangerous for you CPU (In fact, IIRC it extends the life of your CPU.) So as long as it will pass your favorite stability test (Like P95 for 24 hours) then its fine.

You can also enable the energy saving functions on your cpu, I cant remember the name of it but it drops the multi when our not using the CPU.

EDIT: Just took a quick look at your siggy, Q6600 OC @ 2.4? I thought 2.4 was stock speed?

ya run the voltage as low as you can, your temps will be much cooler and you will extend the life of your cpu.

For example.

My e6600 (stock is 2.4ghz @ 1.325v) I ust to run it at 3.0ghz @ 1.225v (ocd undervolted)

My E4300 (stock 1.8ghz @ 1.325v) i ust to run it at 3.0ghz @ 1.250v (66% oc undervolted)

Now i run my E4300 @ stock 1.8ghz but at 1.005v

cpu just has to be stable is all... just like ocing and adding voltage... you try to find the lowest stable voltage... undervolting is the same, intel is usually a lil over on the necessary voltage just so they dont have to go through and test every single chip
