Like I said earlier, virtual reality is the next level of gaming, graphics only go so far and people get bored of or grow out of seeing gta 25 or final fantasy 30 or god of war 8 which is basically the same game with better graphics. WHen the game pu8ts you in the center, as part of the game, and takes you inside the game, it becomes more of a simulation and more of an experience rather than just a game. The possibnilities are endless, imagine the learning applications this could have for chimps for instance or people with disabilities, it could actually maybe create the next level of human intelligence. It is so much more immersive, so much more real, playing a game in stereo 3d than standard way that has been done to death already. its already the new millenium and people are still stuck in time it seems. Nvidia is the future btw, and ati is just a dinosaur of the passt.
I think it could be cool, esepcially if combined with head tracking as demonstrated
here.
I do not think it will be the next big thing though. The majority of the populace does not own the top end video cards necessary to run that type of application. I also think it could bring about increased motion sickness problems as some people already have problems on a 2d screen.
It is very cool though.
Its already been done bro. your living in the past. This is what always seperated and continues to seperate pc gaming from console gmaing, what people think is "cool" on a wii or what ever has already been done on a pc at least 4 years ago:

oh and there is technology already out where glasses aren't requirement (not that it makes any difference for me):

What has been accomplished in terms of graphics has already been accomplished imo. The next step is immersion, virtual reality, effects impacting the player, being right there instead of looking at a monitor, nvidia is that future, all ati is is increasing todays technology, and making more pixels or more polygons on screen. Nvidia has visions way beyond that, visions most people on this forum cant even comprehend.
and pure virtual reality stereo 3d where you are right there and everywhere you look, everywhere you turn your head, the game world exists as if it were real. Better than sex probably imo and its possible right now not 10 yrs form now like ati would have you believe.
watch this physx show of the soon to be released mirrors edge and tell me how aweosme playing that would be combined with head tracking and 3d stereo?
better thans ex imo.
if you have the cash, the VR920 makes it so not only do you have head tracking and everything around you is in 3d, meaning everywhere you turn your head your still in the game and the game is all around you, but it turns a small monitor display into a humongous screen and puts you right inside the game:
