I'm currently running a P35 board, and unfortunately i'm unable to run my memory at it's stock value of 1066 due to what I believe is the northbridge being stressed beyond it's limits

Are there any known x48 boards that are stable while running 2GB x 4dimm setups, while keeping the ram at their default speed settings?

Also, with that in mind, is there a such board with above average overclocking ability?

Just curious if anyone has any of their own ideas that they could share (personal experience is a plus of course), but word of mouth is ok too

I've got the Asus P5E3 Premium Wifi @n edition (Intel X48 chipset), IMO it wasn't cheap. But I like the features it has. Express Gate is VERY NICE and the dual ethernet and wifi are an added benefit. The BIOS flashing was very easy to do with the included EZflash tool or whatever they call it... And as always you get the AI extreme tweaker menu in the bios, which has like 3 pages of items to tweak.

I am not sure about the stable 2GB x4dimm setup, as im running 4GB 2x2048 dimm, and I was easily able to overclock the memory to 1600MHz just by telling the ai tweaker to set the memory frequency to 1600 and auto-adjust everything else. It was a quick n00b way to do things but I'm going to go back and manually adjust my timings. I'm going to go for ~1800Mhz

Bought a P5E Deluxe for a backup system.
The board came with poor monitoring softwre.
Did a quick update to a Rampage bios.
Board has excellent voltage contoler.
System has been up at @4350 for months at a time
while hosting a online game.
If you dont need 2 PCI E x16 you will get better OC with a intel x45
chipset doard.

I'm able to get all 4 sticks easily running at 1600Mhz (DDR2-800), as well. Unfortunately I purchased 4 2GB sticks of Mushkin DDR2-1066 (Model#996599), and have only been successful at getting them up to DDR2-1000 (2000Mhz), with my NB voltage maxed at 1.3v & DDR2 voltage set to 2.2v (I'm hesitant on raising it higher, as I have a 1GB DDR2-1066 Mushkin stick that's dead due to being too aggressive with it's voltage in a prior system). If I push the ram any higher (I've tried DDR2-1020), it results in PFN_LIST_CORRUPT bluescreens

I've also read the FAQ over at CORSAIR, and they actually do not recommend running 4 sticks of memory, without downclocking the memory frequency and increasing the northbridge voltage..

Every now and then, I'll find someone on a forum that's successfully running 4x2GB @ DDR2-1066 speeds, but I had never taken notice as to what board they were using, because at the time I wasn't interested in setting up my system in such a way (8GB of system ram), but now that I'm running 8GB I'm fishing for a board that would allow me to run the memory at it's rated speed & timings

thanks for the reply, I have heard nice things about the P5E Deluxe Asus board, with regards to overclocking (later in your post, you mention x45.. do you mean P45?), but I'm unfamiliar with their success running 4x2GB of memory at 1066 speeds..

P45 chipset may have a higher fsb etc
Bought a P35C-DS3L it was a cheaply built MB lasted 3 months.
Bios lost its way back to the backup Bios on the flash drive.
Every mem stick slot was was to easy to push on or loose.
Both PS plugs were loose as hell.
Poor voltage controler.
Had problems running 4 1g sticks.
The E6600 ran 3700 in 680i and P5e-D.
The E6600 in the P35C-DS3L would only do 3400.
Read to many posts about 8 gig problems.
Memory at 1066 is still OC ram.
In daily use your not going see much difference from 1000 to 1066.
I can see geting new x48 MB for CF or to Max out a good cpu.
I would not get a x48 to run 8 gigs of OC mem.

no no no my m8.ddr2-800 is 400 MHz dual chanel,that makes it 800MHz.same with ddr2-1066MHz,its 533MHz dual chanel makes it 1066MHz.
you not wright about 4 sticks aswell,coz quad setup is realy good if you not planning to overclock your CPU (if YES ,2 dims is better).

It's not dual channel, it's Double Data Rate. Dual channel has nothing to do with the frequency of the memory. If you correct someone, correct them right .
